Customized ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN & IMPLEMENTATION SERVICES for projects of all sizes
THOUGHTFULLY DESIGNED School Nutrition environments are more than just a cafeteria — they BECOME the heart of the campus.
“The design was clean and nurturing. The team had great advice and customer service was excellent. With no other changes, our breakfast participation is up 2.5% after just the first month.”
— Amelia Holland, School Nutrition Director, Lexington City Schools
WHY INVEST IN UPGRADING YOUR SPACE?
The cafeteria isn’t just where kids eat anymore, it’s one of the few places on campus where students and staff naturally come together. When the space is comfortable, flexible, and inviting, it becomes way more than a lunchroom — a collaboration hub by day, a club meeting spot after school, and a welcoming space for family and community events in the evening.
A well-designed cafeteria with thoughtfully configured furniture, unifying branding, and flexible serving solutions can shift to meet myriad different needs throughout the day, including:
Food and beverage service
Tech-enabled collaboration zones
Open gathering areas
Safe and easily monitored study spaces
After cafeteria renovations, child nutrition staff and school administrators alike report not only financial wins for the program, but improvements in the overall school atmosphere.
Increased meal participation: Improved spatial layouts can increase service speed and diversify service type, allowing the program to serve students more efficiently. This, combined with students actually wanting to spend time in the space, can dramatically improve participation rates.
Cleaner spaces: Students take pride in their updated space and are also incentivized to clean up after themselves or lose access to sought after areas in the space.
Reduction in behavioral issues: Thoughtful spatial design matters. Clear sight lines, adequate walkways, and smart seating layouts make supervision easier and reduce behavior issues during mealtimes.
EXPERT GUIDANCE & PROJECT MANAGEMENT AT EVERY STEP
Our expert consultants have walked in your shoes and know that the time and resources required to manage this type of transformation often cannot be diverted from everyday operations. That’s where we come in. ProTeam’s role is to act as project manager, design coordinator, and liaison between your program and our furniture and design partners to bring your vision to life. From the initial consultation through the final installation, we oversee every detail big and small so you can continue your essential work of making sure kids are fed.
OUR THREE PHASE PROCESS
When undergoing environmental makeovers, our number one priority is developing a project plan that aligns with your needs and minimizes disruptions to your daily operations.
While the exact time and resource allotment required on your part will vary based on the size and scope of the project, the process will generally adhere to the following three phases.
Initial Consultation and Planning: Initial meetings and consultations with ProTeam to discuss your vision, requirements, budget, and timeline for the cafeteria makeover.
Collaborative Design Process: Collaborate with ProTeam and our furniture partner Palmer Hamilton on the design process. This includes reviewing and providing feedback on design drafts, and then approving the final design.
Logistics and Installation: Coordinate access to your cafeteria space, and be available during the install process to address any issues that arise. Review the finished installation and address any follow-up that is needed.
